Myself in Songs

Welcome to my very first blog post! I am a freshman from Wausau, WI. I chose UWSP because I wanted to be close to home where I can be closer to my family. I always try to be positive and smile. I enjoy spending time outdoors, with friends and family, and staying active. There are five songs I have chosen for my playlist which include "Glorious" by Foxes and "Consideration" by Rihanna, and I feel they describe my self and my inner thoughts. Read on to learn more about my playlist and how it reflects on my life.

My playlist consists of pop and indie songs from the past five years, so it is pretty up-to-date. I like to listen to music that isn't typically popular because I don't want to hear the same songs over and over again on the radio, as most of you may relate to if you listen to the radio as often as I do. My playlist is full of melodious songs with some high intensity notes. I like to listen to these songs because they help calm my mind after a long day. I am a little shy, but I have lots of energy, and that's kind of how the music is that I listen to -- with mellow notes and some bursts of energy in them.

At times I have difficulty being confident in myself, which some of you may experience as well. My playlist of songs helps me find confidence in myself and that the world can be a better place. I am always searching for hope for a better future for the world and for myself. One of the songs, "I Want to Feel Alive" by The Lighthouse and the Whaler, describes a storm as a contradiction; and I think there is much contradiction in our world and our society, and we need to make a change. My playlist of songs gives me the confidence and hope that there will be a good change for a better future.

The world is a big place and being in college has opened my eyes to new views of people, our culture, and our impact on each other and our environment. There are many new beginnings ahead of us and music is what inspires us to be creative and push forward in life. My playlist helps me refocus my energy. I enjoy authentic music with powerful words. I hope you listen to my playlist and maybe you will also like the songs.

Here is my playlist:
  1. "Consideration" by Rihanna featuring SZA
  2. "I Want to Feel Alive" by The Lighthouse and the Whaler
  3. "Glorious" by Foxes
  4. "Gods & Monsters" by Lana Del Rey
  5. "Moments" by Tove Lo

  1. I really enjoy that you choose songs that aren't played that much on the radio. I also feel the same way that they are played a lot and sometimes it can be too much. I like that you feel you can go back after a long day and just be able to listen to these songs and it will help you relax.

  2. I really like how you chose the song "I Want to Feel Alive" to sort of describe our world. I completely agree with you on how college has opened has opened our eyes to all sorts of new things. I will be sure to listen to the rest of your playlist!
